If you live in Boca Raton, Delray Beach or Highland Beach and are preparing to be - or have recently become - a bat or bar mitzvah, this is for you!
An important rite of passage from child to young adult, in Hebrew, bar (bat) mitzvah actually means "self responsibility." It’s a time when you can make more decisions about your life - and it’s also a time when you get a lot of presents. Yet there’s one gift that no one can give you, but yourself. It never breaks down, never gets boring and never goes out of style. In fact, it only gets more rewarding with age. The gift of giving to a cause that’s close to your heart.
Club 13 was created so that young people can participate in this important Jewish tradition, learn more about giving, raise money for a charity and work closely in a group with other B’nai Mitzvot.

Like Alana Steinberg, a student at Pine Crest School and member of B’nai Torah Congregation. Alana met the at-risk children at Bet Elaraki, which provides children in Israel with a family atmosphere, rescue and rehabilitation from the vicious cycle of distress. Having visited and contributed to this organization, Alana is more mindful of challenges many children face and has a personal connection with Israel. Continuing to give back, she recently donated $500 to Pine Crest’s Beta Club for their holiday toy drive. |

Like Andrew Pratt, a 7th grader at American Heritage School in Delray Beach. This past summer was extremely special as my family and I traveled to Israel where I became a Bar Mitzvah. His love of baseball as well as his interest in helping children who are less fortunate and children with special needs, led Andrew to host a “Home Run Derby For Children” for his Bar Mitzvah project. Like Emma Harris, a student at Hillel Day School and member of Boca Raton Synagogue. On a recent trip to Israel Emma spoke to her cousin Debbie who is a social worker at the Meshi School. Emma had the opportunity to learn about the phenomenal work of the Meshi School. Emma was so touched, that she decided to raise money towards therapeutic equipment for the Meshi students in honor of her Bat Mitzvah. Donate to Emma's B'nai Mitzvah Donation Fund |

Like Ethan Harris, a student at Hillel Day School and member of Boca Raton Synagogue. On a recent trip to Israel, Ethan visited the Duv Devan base, an exclusive unit within the IDF. While there, Ethan realized the impact of providing a talit rack, tzitzit and book shelves with sidurim for the soldiers to utilize. He chose to focus on this as his mitzvah project. With his Club 13 fund, Ethan has raised over $10,000 for the Duv Devan base and their talits or ritual garments that act as lifesaving shields. Donate to Ethan's B'nai Mitzvah Donation Fund |

Like Jonah Rose, a student at Hillel Day School and member of Boca Raton Synagogue. During a family trip to Israel over Sukkor several years ago the family went to a street fair. In between all the rides and games, there was a booth devoted to the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind. At this exhibit, Jonah fell in love with the puppies and what they do for their owners. Three years later he still remembered that booth and how excited he was by this organization. This passion and love for the organization has inspired him to help them in anyway possible. Like Sam Harris, decided to donate his bar mitzvah gift money to build a youth lounge for the teens of Kiryat Bialik. The Youth Club is a place for 13 – 18 years olds to hang out with the supervision and guidance of experienced, professional counselors. The Youth Club provides a valuable, cultural, safe environment – plus a sense of belonging – to the KB teens. Please support the KB Youth Club and help make a better life for Sam’s peers who live there! Donate to Sam's B'nai Mitzvah Donation Fund |

Like Vida Romano, has decided to help Tri-County Humane Society with beds, food, toys towels and pillowcases through your help and generous donations. It was because of her pet cats (once strays) that she started to notice a lot of stray animals in the community and really took an interest in their needs.
