Ellen R. Sarnoff

Chair, Jewish Federation of SPBC

Ellen R. Sarnoff

Ellen has been serving our Jewish community with her whole heart, soul and New York drive since she moved to South Florida in 1993. She is deeply committed to our Federation, having served as the Chair for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Campaigns, and as an officer of the Board. This past year she was the Chair of Finance Resource Development (FRD). Ellen also serves on the Board of the Jewish Community Foundation, and is a charter member of the Jewish Women’s Foundation. She is a Past Chair of Federation’s Women’s Division, and sits on the JFNA National Women’s Philanthropy Board. She has served on the boards of the Jewish Association for Residential Care (JARC), and the 2007 Major Gifts National Women’s Philanthropy Committee. She has also chaired the King David Society and Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE) Committee for South Palm Beach County. In 2008, she became the first recipient of Federation’s prestigious Dorothy P. Seaman Leadership Award for her significant contribution to women’s philanthropy.

In addition to her campaign experience, Ellen has served on the Finance and the Planning and Allocations Committees. For six years, Ellen co-sponsored the Federation’s Thanksgiving Day Luncheon for those in need. Ellen has also been deeply involved in Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service, currently on the board and the executive committee and having previously served as Vice President of Programming. In 2000, she established the Sarnoff Substance Abuse Education Program at JFS to educate children about the dangers of drugs. In 2002, she was honored by the agency for her work and commitment at their Friends of the Family Dinner. For three years Ellen was a visitor to a woman who lived in Kings Point.

Last year, Ellen was the 2010 honoree at Boca Grove and was honored with the Kipnis Wilson Friedland Award this past November at the National Women’s Philanthropy Conference in New Orleans.

A Warm Hello From Ellen R. Sarnoff, Chair of the Board

What an honor and privilege it is to have the opportunity to serve as Chair of the Board for the 2011-2012 Campaign year. I have many goals in mind for the coming year. I especially wish to bring back those donors who have been disenfranchised, to address their needs and to bring our family back together again — stronger and more committed than ever. I consider this to be a pressing priority and will do my best to lead our Federation in this direction.

I also want to emphasize our “Create a Jewish Legacy” program for those who wish to leave a permanent mark of their generosity in our community, and who want to help fellow Jews for generations to come.

And finally, I’d like to help further cultivate the next generation of Jewish leaders in our community through our Federation’s extraordinary Next Gen program.

I am thrilled that I will be working closely with the Federation staff on these initiatives, and am confident that we have much to look forward to in the coming year.

Best Regards,
