In response to the rush to judgment against Israel following the recent flotilla incident, The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, its partner organizations and friends appeal to all. Join us in fighting these and all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel:
1. Support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Government in their efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution of the Middle East conflict, including a two-state solution that ensures the safety and security of both the Israeli and Palestinian people.
2. Denounce the attempts to position the intentions of the flotilla ship Mavi Marmara’s mission on May 31, 2010, as anything less than a direct provocation of Israel. We believe this flotilla incident, and other related provocations, serve to divert us from calling attention to Iran’s efforts to increase their nuclear capacity, which pose a direct threat to the State of Israel as well as all peaceful nations throughout the Middle East.
3. Decry the efforts of the Palestinian-sponsored Global BDS Movement, which is aimed at boycotting, divesting from and placing sanctions against Israel. We urge all community leaders and residents from all sectors who support Israel, to speak out against these tactics by contacting President Obama (www.whitehouse.gov/contact or 202-456-1111) and other government officials who serve South Palm Beach County (www.jewishboca.org/government).
