A Special Gift
Dotti Seaman has been involved with our Federation since 1993. Having served as the Women’s Division Chair from 2003 to 2005, she is now co-Chair of the Lion of Judah Endowment program. Most recently, Dotti committed a gift of $1 million to the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County that will rename its department of Women’s Philanthropy in her honor in perpetuity.
Now called the Dorothy Seaman Department of Women’s Philanthropy, this division of Federation’s Toby Weinman Palchik Center of Jewish Philanthropy (CJP) has been at the forefront of women’s giving, accounting for 49% of Federation’s Annual Campaign of more than $20 million and leading the nation with 207 Lion of Judah Endowments.
In addition to her most recent generous gift, Dotti increased her annual gift and became the first Amethyst Lion (at the $36,000 level) of the season. She has endowed her annual gift, her husband’s annual gift (in blessed memory) and her daughter’s Lion gift. When her beloved husband passed away, she created a memorial fund in his name that will support the cultural arts program at the Jewish Association of Residential Care (JARC), one of Federation’s four primary beneficiary agencies.
Dotti comes to south Palm Beach County from West Hartford, Connecticut, where she was actively involved in her synagogue and served as vice president of the Sisterhood. Locally, she not only serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation, but is also involved with Boca Community Hospital’s “Think Pink” initiative, raising money and awareness to help fight breast cancer.
