In full support, celebration and sisterhood, 85 caring, dedicated women came together for Federation’s 2014-15 Women’s Philanthropy Board Installation. They gathered for the brunch program on March at the Levis JCC Sandler Center. Margaret Kottler, Installation Chair, led the moving ceremony that honored Women’s Philanthropy leaders both current and past. Special recognition was given to Judi Schuman, incoming Chair of Women’s Philanthropy; Emily Grabelsky, outgoing Chair of Women’s Philanthropy; and Rebecca Appelbaum, recipient of the 2014 Dorothy Seaman Leadership Award. The morning also included an inspiring D’var Torah delivered by Debra Halperin.
The Dorothy Seaman Department of Women’s Philanthropy and our country clubs and communities hosted eight meaningful and enjoyable Women’s Outreaches in December. Women of all ages were invited to morning and afternoon sessions of light refreshments in beautiful homes and clubs across South Palm Beach County to learn more about what our Jewish Federation is doing for those in need in our community, in Israel and around the world. The powerful speakers for the outreaches included Linda Hurwitz, National Campaign Chair of JFNA; Lynda Fishman, motivational speaker and author of “Repairing Rainbows;” and Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger, author of “A German Life: Against All Odds Change is Possible.” Women left these warm, welcoming gatherings even more inspired to fulfill the mitzvah of tzedakah.
