| Young Jewish Families Chill Together Again with Metro on Ice (September 11, 2011) |
| The summer heat just couldn’t slow down our energetic young Jewish community, as they took it back to the ice for Metro’s first family event of the season. The companionship was warm among new and old friends at Saveology.com Iceplex. 156 young adults, and kids from tots to teens, enjoyed skating, prizes, a DJ and a Kosher pizza dinner. Panther rookies skated through the group enroute to their game. Janice Jacobs and Barry Vlessing chaired a wonderful event with a “family reunion” feel. | It was one big family Chanukah celebration when Federation’s Metro Division brought together 150 parents and children of all ages for Love, Laughs and Latkes at Olympic Heights High school. They enjoyed a musical celebration with Rabbi Amy Rader, guitarist Sharon Shear and Sharon's daughter, Samantha, along with the tastes, aromas, dreidel-playing and other treats of the holiday. | Afternoon of Bowling Kicks off Metro Family Programming (October 17, 2010) |
| Across 40 bowling lanes, 160 family members of all ages from throughout the Jewish community reunited with old friends while making new ones at Metro’s Family Bowling event on Sunday, October 17. The afternoon at Strikes Bowling Alley in Boca Raton launched the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County Metro season’s family activities. They bowled, enjoyed contests, and also heard from Gadi Soued about how families can help those in need, from our neighbors to our larger family across the globe. The event was co-chaired by Linda Schwartzman and Rachel Rudensky. Metro Division, for those in their 20s to 40s is sponsored by the Sandelman Foundation. The next Metro family event will be a Love, Laughs and Latkes Chanukah and Shabbat program on December 3 at Olympic Heights High School. More than 125 of them filled the New York Comedy Club in Boca Raton on April 22 for the 2010 Metro Division and Ben Gurion evening. | Metro Business Professionals and Federation leaders gathered at the Elaine Baker Gallery in Boca Raton on Thursday, March 11th for the latest installment of this season’s Metro Business Networking Series. Amid the beautiful artwork and an elegant reception, they heard from prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist Larry Feldman, CEO of Subway Development Corporation, about business, corporate responsibility and philanthropy. Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle shared his personal journey of healthy eating with Subway that led to a 245 pound weight loss, and devotion to his foundation dedicated to eliminating childhood obesity. | Spirit & Spice #2: Spice It Up! |
| The spirit of Passover came early for Metro Women of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, as they explored innovative yet traditional meals for a memorable holiday. Acclaimed Chef Michael Saperstein (of Café Maxx, Bistro 17 and Gotham City Restaurant) whipped up elegant recipes right before their eyes on Tuesday, April 1, in the Saturnia Isles Clubhouse in West Boca Raton.
In all, Chef Michael presented 20 of his own recipes for tasting in eight Passover table presentations, each with a Kosher wine pairing. There were plenty of ooohhs, ahhhs and satisfied smiles throughout the evening. There were also plenty of new faces, as many first-time attendees joined the growing number of Metro Women participants. Each guest was given her own Five Star Seder Recipe Book to take home. But for most attendees, the heart of the evening came with the Oscar Awards-style presentation following the cocktail reception.
