For thirteen years the Jewish Education Commission (JEC) of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County (JFSPBC) has been the central address for local Jewish education, strengthening Jewish life and learning among all ages. On March 2 at 6:30 pm, the JEC will observe its Bar Mitzvah year with an anniversary gala "Honoring Our Community Heroes in Jewish Education” at B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton. The honorees serve in Jewish preschools, day schools and congregational schools, Holocaust and adult education, and as teen leaders of Jewish Forums at local high schools.
The March of the Living - Southern Region is currently accepting applications for the 2010 Holocaust education program that culminates in a two week trip to Poland and Israel from April 8th to 22, 2010. Jewish eleventh and twelfth graders are urged to apply quickly for available spots and financial assistance. Many local teens are hearing about this incredible opportunity from the 2009 Marchers who are now speaking in the community.
Showcasing an incredible story of Hannah Senesh while raising funds for the March of the Living scholarships, the 8th annual Kristallnacht Film Forum (KFF) will feature Blessed is the Match: the Life and Death of Hannah Senesh at 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 8. The film will be shown at Sunrise Cinemas-Mizner Park in downtown Boca Raton. Before the film, Marianne Bobick will be honored for her many contributions to the Jewish community, at a reception at ZED451 for donors of $180 or more.
