Lion Luncheon: Pride, Passion, Power, Philanthropy with DoSomething.org CEO Nancy Lublin

The “pride” of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will celebrate the power, fuel the passion, and honor a pioneer of Women’s Philanthropy at the annual Lion of Judah  Luncheon. The roar from The Polo Club of Boca Raton on Thursday, February 17 at 10:30 am will resound throughout the community and across the globe.

“It’s breathtaking how the power builds when hundreds of women who care so deeply, and who do so much to support our local and global Jewish community, come together,” said Dale Pratt, co-chair of the Luncheon with Judi Schuman. “We know we’ll leave ignited to meet today’s challenges of meeting increasing vital needs.”

Amid colors reflecting the gems on the pins worn by Lions worldwide, these compassionate, generous women will hear one of the nonprofit world’s most globally-renowned, innovative young leaders, Nancy Lublin, share “Things My Bubbe Taught Me.”

Lublin founded Dress for Success with a $5,000 inheritance from her great-grandfather, a peddler who came to America with nothing. To honor his memory and help others blaze new beginnings, she built it into a worldwide phenomenon. She then used her passion for young people changing the world to turn Do Something from financial failure into one of America’s largest youth organizations.

“We know Nancy will connect powerfully with our Lions, who range from younger women like her to bubbes and great-bubbes,” said Judi Schuman. “Having combined her honor of tradition, profound caring for others and forward-thinking business savvy for the benefit of so many, Nancy’s story can’t help but resonate and inspire.”

With a groundbreaking speaker, the Luncheon is also dedicated to the memory of one of this Federation’s pioneers whose visionary leadership helped build Women’s Philanthropy into a powerful force that raises more than half of the Annual Campaign dollars. Della Rosenberg, who served as President of the Federation’s Women’s Division from 1995 to 1998 passed away this year.

“In 1979, our new Federation’s women heeded the call of a burgeoning Jewish community in urgent need of multiple services,” said Judi. “It is our pride to celebrate Della, as it is our privilege to follow her legacy.”

The Luncheon couvert is $65, with a Lion level gift of minimum $5,000 to the 2011 UJA/Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County Annual Campaign required to attend. Dietary laws observed.
