Nearly 175 women of all ages celebrated as the Jewish Women’s Foundation of South Palm Beach County’s chairs Ann Kelman and Marlene Silver announced JWF’s 2011 grant awards. A total of $135,000 was granted to projects that benefit women and girls in the local community, in Israel and in Central Russia. Founded by Roxane Frechie Lipton in 2003, JWF has allocated a total of nearly $250,000 over the past five years.

Chaired by Rose Singer and Cindy White, the annual Granting Wishes Reception on March 7 at the elegant Boca Rio Country Club also featured best-selling author Naomi Wolf on “The Beauty Myth.”

“We’re excited to announce JWF’s new grant recipients, and share how our combined dollars and shared decisions will be helping women and girls in the coming year,” said White.

“JWF’s hands-on, independent philanthropists select and support programs that address their most passionate concerns in our own community and around the world,” added Singer. “It’s remarkably satisfying to see the impact we have together.”

The grants (listed below) were awarded in three focus areas: abuse prevention, educational opportunities, and health and welfare.  Trustees of the Jewish Women’s Foundation serve as equal partners in selecting grant recipients, deciding together how to direct their combined resources.

The Jewish Women's Foundation is generously sponsored by Oppenheimer.
