From throughout the community, passionate, dedicated women of all ages and from all streams of Judaism will attend the initial Pomegranate gathering at the Norton Museum of Art, 1451 S. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. They’ll reflect on what their contributions have accomplished, as they enjoy an elegant luncheon (dietary laws observed) and docent-led tour of “Fabulous Fakes, the Jewelry of Kenneth Jay Lane,” at the fabulous occasion co-chaired by Robynn Ginsberg, Wendi Lipsich and Randi Winter. The new Pomegranate giving level honors women who contribute from $1,800 to $4,999 to the Federation’s Annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, and gives them the opportunity to wear the beautiful sterling Pomegranate pin. Rebecca Appelbaum, the Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy Vice Chair, Pomegranate, explained the significance of the symbol, “The pomegranate is mentioned in the Torah. Its 613 seeds are said to represent the 613 “mitzvot” or commandments.” “By wearing the unique and stunning Pomegranate pin, our members are reminded of the Jewish lives we have improved, rescued and renewed in our own neighborhoods, in Israel and around the world,” continued Appelbaum. “But we are also ever mindful of the work that is yet to be done.” Kenneth Jay Lane, a stalwart of the fashion world, is widely credited with making costume jewelry as glamorous as million-dollar pieces. His creations have been worn by celebrities from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Nancy Reagan to Britney Spears, and his early pieces now fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction. Lane has expanded his presence beyond society circles to become a charming and wildly popular QVC showman. Boca Raton Regional Hospital is the generous sponsor of the Federation’s Dorothy Seaman Department of Women’s Philanthropy, of which the Pomegranate level is a part. Couvert for the event is $45. Women who contribute at the Pomegranate level may RSVP online at www.jewishboca.org/pomegranate.
