The summer heat can’t slow down our energetic young Jewish community, and they’re taking it to the ice for Metro’s first family event of the season. Young adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s, and kids from tots to teens, are invited to see old friends and make new ones on Sunday, September 11, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. They’ll be chilling amid warm companionship at Saveology.com Iceplex, 3299 Sportsplex Drive, Coral Springs (Sample Road and Sawgrass Expressway).

They’ll also enjoy prizes and dinner, with dietary laws observed. The couvert is $12 per person with advance registration, or $18 at the door. Children ages 3 and under admitted free of charge, and the maximum family cost is $54.

“This is a great way for adults and kids alike to have a terrific time on the ice, enjoy a family-friendly dinner and really feel the strength and vibrancy of our young Jewish community,” said Barry Vlessing, Co-chair of the event. “It’s one of our most popular Metro events!”

"I especially enjoy Metro’s ice skating event because it feels like a family reunion,” said Co-chair Janice Jacobs.  “It's an opportunity at the start of our New Year to reconnect with friends from many different groups within our local Jewish community in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.”

Family events are only one track of the Metro Division, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s vehicle for young adults. Coming up soon are also the Metro Kickoff at Elaine Baker Gallery on September 22, and the season’s first Wandering Happy Hour, at SPIN Ultra Lounge on October 6.  Metro Division is generously sponsored by The Sandelman Foundation.
