An afternoon of laughter, warm companionship and private time with renowned actress/comedian Renee Taylor is in store for some of our community’s most caring, generous women. The new “Just for You” series debuts on February 17 at 3:00 pm with Taylor’s hilarious one-woman show, My Life on a Diet, presented by Adolph & Rose Levis JCC on the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County campus - followed by a very special “Conversation and Cocktails” with the performer exclusively for the Federation’s top women donors. On March 7,"Just for You" will take a more serious turn in a morning of inspiration, learning with Katya Potapova from the JDC  in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The “pride” of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will once again rededicate and celebrate at their annual ingathering. At Boca West Country Club on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:30 am, the 2013 Lion of Judah Luncheon will feature Lara Logan, CBS News Chief Foreign Affairs and 60 Minutes Correspondent. Margie Baer will be honored for her passionate, longstanding dedication.

A terrific evening of Canasta, Mah Jongg, Scrabble, Social Bridge and treats awaits women of all ages from throughout the community. They’re invited to bring their “game” cards and sets to the beautiful St. Andrews Country Club, 17557 Claridge Oval West in Boca Raton on November 1.  The fun and friendship begin at 7:00 pm; the energy is sure to stay high and the welcome warm for hours.

A record number of 1,700 Lions is now convening in New York City to kick off the 2012 International Lion of Judah Conference (ILOJC) at the Marriott Marquis. The three-day JFNA conference, which is co-chaired by Betsy Hoos of New Haven and Leslie Sidell of Colorado, coincides with the Lion of Judah’s 40th anniversary and is the first-ever ILOJC in New York City.

Fifty caring, generous women gathered in Zinman Hall on Federation campus recently for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s Women's Philanthropy Installation Celebration. At the spring celebration chaired by Margie Marlowe and Shirley Solomon, the women welcomed their new leadership including Emily Grabelsky as Women's Philanthropy Chair. They also honored Meryl Gallatin for her two outstanding years as Chair, as well as Kathy Green, 2012 Dorothy Seaman Leadership Awardee, and Beverly Shapiro, 2012 Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award recipient. Wells Fargo reps were on hand to receive kudos for the company's generous sponsorship of the Women's Philanthropy Department.

The “pride” of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is about to turn up their power, recommit to their purpose and fuel their passion at their annual ingathering, the Lion of Judah Luncheon. The roar from Boca West Country Club on Thursday, February 16 at 10:30 a.m. will resound louder than ever throughout the community and across the globe, as local Lions celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Lion of Judah program. They’ll also hear from Campbell Brown, one of the most respected and recognizable faces in American news.

It was the Federation's annual meeting and Anita Shalley, Director of Supplemental Philanthropy, sat with her husband Marlan, her dear friend Leona Brauser, and other friends and colleagues. For nearly 30 years, Anita has attended this event, celebrating the achievements of others. But an unprecedented and deeply moving anonymous act of generosity made this annual meeting a night none there will ever forget. And it's a story that simply must be shared.
