The 100 women at the Women’s Philanthropy Board Installation were clearly united and deeply moved by the power of their shared values, history and efforts. Their compassion and generosity, sisterhood and rededication suffused Zinman Hall as they celebrated their successes, welcomed their new leadership and honored their own. The spring-themed brunch was chaired by Kinnie Gorelick and Ellen Flank. Honored were Anne Jacobson, on completing three extraordinary years as Women’s Philanthropy Chair, as well as Susan Rahn and Ellen Sarnoff. Meryl Gallatin will now lead the board into 2010-11.

The Federation’s most generous women headed to Neiman Marcus Boca Raton  for this year’s Lion of Judah Endowment Ultimate Thank You. In addition to lunch, the women were treated to a Spring Fashion Trend Presentation on Fine Apparel - Level Two.

The aromas of Passover will arrive a little early for women looking to bring delicious innovations into their traditional holiday meals. Women of all ages are invited to learn and taste how to spice up their Passover tables at Bloomingdale’s Boca Raton in Town Center on Tuesday, March 23rd at 6:00 pm. Chef Lauren Bakst will tantalize the taste buds, demonstrating creative twists to traditional recipes as well as new dishes for memorable seders and a delicious holiday week. The couvert is $36.

The first woman and the youngest person to serve as White House Press Secretary, Dee Dee Myers, will keynote the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s annual Lion of Judah Luncheon at 10:30 am on February 11, 2010 at the Polo Club of Boca Raton. And ensuring this powerful event’s top distinction for years to come, Marleen Forkas has become the first to endow a Chair which will generously underwrite the cost of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s top caliber Lion Luncheon speakers in perpetuity.

The Federation’s most philanthropic women will be thanked on January 28^th at the first Crown of Judah Luncheon just for women. Clarice Pressner, who founded the Crown of Judah Division 20 years ago, is being honored. Luncheon Chair Lisa Mintz is hosting the event in her lovely home. The keynote speaker will be Alan Dershowitz, a most distinuished Harvard law professor, defender of individual liberties and Jewish causes, author and media personality.

Amid the treasure trove of women’s activities in the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County season is the most awaited event in local Jewish women’s philanthropy. Women of all ages from throughout the community will learn about the Lions of Judah amid a powerful and exotic Jewish journey. Sadia Shepard will share her story at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s annual Lion of Judah Outreach, on December 9, 2009 at the new Wyndham Garden Hotel in Boca Raton.

One woman’s quest for her true heritage, from Christian asceticism to a Jewish life in Israel will highlight one of the community’s most awaited annual Jewish women’s events, the 5th Annual Dottie Lipson Educational Journey. Open to the public, the day will take place on Thursday, November 19 at Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton. Registration begins at 9:30 am, followed by the program and luncheon (dietary laws observed). Couvert is $45. 

Jewish women of all ages are invited to prepare for the New Year with a morning of fun and fashion, reflection and inspiration. At 9:30 am on September 15, the Designer department of Bloomingdale’s Boca Raton at Town Center will be the setting for the third annual Spirit & Spice fall program. A $36 couvert includes Kosher light bites.
